(11/04/19) Celebration of Kefalonia’s new stadium with Great International Athletes Competing

A few days are left for the great celebration of Kefalonia athletics, the International Meeting VERGOTEIA 2019, to be held Saturday, May 11, in the renovated stadium Argostoli.
In races involving some of the strongest names in Greek athletics, along with important foreign athletes. And while the process of returns is still open, we can announce some of the champions who have already finalized their participation. 
The strongest event in this year Vergoteia is undoubtedly the long jump for men and women. The names that stand out are Miltos Tentoglou (European champion in the open arena in Berlin in 2018 and indoors in Glasgow in 2019, with a personal best of 8,38m) and Voula Papachristou (European champion 2018 in Berlin, the second European closed 2019 and eighth at the Rio Olympics in 2016, with a record of 14.73 in the triple jump and 6.60 in length). With them will compete Dimitris Tsiamis (3rd winner at the European Championships 2018 in Berlin and the Panhellenic record holder in the triple jump with 17.55) and the Greek champions Lille Alexoulis 6.76m with an individual record. 
The long jump of women will have two very strong international participation: The Sountarava Wola, from Belarus (personal best of 6.86m, second in the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 and seventh at the London Olympics) and the rising Anna Krasoutska from Ukraine (performance is 14.15 in triplicate and 6.32 in long jump). 
From Ukraine will also bring the sprinters Alexei Pozntnikof (5th place at the European Championships 2015 in Belgrade in the relay 4CH400, a personal best 46.42 in the 400m.) And Maria Mikolenko (Ukrainian champion at 60 in 2019). And jump height women will have very strong competition with Joanna Zakka (Greece champion 2016 and 2017) and consistently Dose (4th Olympic Youth Days 2018 in Morocco, a record 1.84) have already confirmed their participation. With them and the athletes GI Cephalonia Anna Kroussia and Memi Alysandratou. 
Several more athletes of the national athletics team will be in Cephalonia, whose names will be announced in the coming days.
