40 beaches cleaned up environmental organizations in three islands

P&G and AB Vassilopoulos through the “Offer” program, together with the environmental organisation iSea and the active participation of all of us, completed 40 coast clean-up actions in three Greek islands.

Athens, October 15, 2019 – Having a full summer of 40 activities in three Greek islands, P&G and AB Vassilopoulos’ Offer program supports iSea and reports on a period from May to September. Crete, Kefalonia and Zakynthos.

The aim of Offer is to raise awareness and mobilize citizens for Greek coasts free of all kinds of waste. The number of citizens who individually or in groups participated in the call reached 420 this year, with people of all ages, Greek citizens and many foreign visitors, responding to and enhancing the activities of I Offer to 40 beaches. At the same time, however, all consumers are involved in the action because through P&G’s product markets such as Ariel, Always, H&S at AB Vasilopoulos stores, iSea enables them to identify appropriate beaches, organize, coordinate actions and do the scientific recording of waste.

From May to September, in Heraklion, Chania, Rethymnon, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, 5,830 kg of waste were removed from the beaches of the islands, covering a total area of ​​31,760 meters, with plastics accounting for 85% of the total. total waste volume.

Anastasia Haritou, the coordinator of actions of the environmental organization iSea says: “The result of the 40 actions implemented in total helped shape our image of the situation on the beaches of tourist areas in Greece and the dimension of the water problem. It is very encouraging to us that companies and local communities are joining forces and embracing environmental action. ”

Actors Orpheus Avgoustidis and Lila Baklissi, who have embraced the offer, have been active in the mobilization this summer, as they themselves engage in cleansing and enhance their actions through their social networks.

Innovation with significant environmental footprint
