6.1 Richter Earthquake Off Crete this morning – What Seismologists Say

Seismic vibration felt in Attica was recorded at 9:23 am Wednesday morning. The Euro-Mediterranean estimates the earthquake at 6 Richter offshore in Crete.

Geodynamic: 6.1 Richter 20km south of Antikythera
According to the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake was 6.1 on the Richter scale and occurred in a marine area 20 kilometers south of Antikythera and west of Crete.

The focal depth is at 70 km.

What seismologists say

According to Efthimios Lekkas, who spoke on Good Morning Greece, the earthquake was centered near Kythera and its magnitude was 5.8 Richter. The focus is located 26km south of Antikythera, the first estimates suggest that the focal depth is 60km and is undersea.

Zelentis: The earthquake is 6 Richter west of Crete

The earthquake that occurred shortly after 9:00 in Crete was felt in Athens.

As quoted by enikos.gr, the director of the Akis Zelentis Institute of Geodynamics, the earthquake was 6 degrees on the Richter scale in the marine area west of Crete.
