The Saristra Festival 2022 ended today early in the morning in our neighboring Old Vlachata. One of the biggest alternative music festivals in Greece celebrated its tenth birthday this year, after a forced two-year hiatus due to health conditions.
An artistic event that was organized in collaboration with Onassis Culture and thrilled its audience with an impressive line up that included important names of the domestic independent scene and well-known artists from abroad, both on the square stage of the Festival, and on the stage of Movement Radio of the Onassis Foundation Shelter. Among them BEAK>, the trio of British musician Geoff Barrow, one of the founding members of Portishead, and The KVB, the duo of Nicholas Wood and Kat Day.
In addition, it hosted a rich artistic program with workshops, painting and photography exhibitions, residencies, film screenings, such as the multi-award winning “Magnetic Fields” by Giorgos Gousis, which were filmed on our island, dance performances, etc. And all this in a beautiful, almost mystical space, which is inextricably linked to the historical memories of generations and generations of Kefallonites.
The Saristra Festival consistently and with great success serves a special concept that would not be an exaggeration if we said that it has put Kefalonia and of course the Municipality of Sami on the map of the so-called new age music, now becoming a point of reference for the musical and not only things of the country .
In any case, we would like to congratulate the organizers and volunteers for the enormous effort and, of course, the success of the Saristra Festival 2022 and wish for an even better continuation. After all, culture, in all its forms, is an element of the Cephalonian DNA.
