The Prime Minister will visit health and welfare structures and will have a meeting with the Mayors of Kefallinia and Ithaca
Kyriakos Mitsotakis is visiting Kefalonia today continuing his tours throughout Greece and direct communication with the citizens.
Arriving early this morning at the attractive tourist destination the Prime Minister will be briefed on the progress of infrastructure projects on the Ionian island, will visit health and welfare structures and will have a meeting with the Mayors of Kefallinia and Ithaca (at 11:30), at the building of Vice-region.
The aim of his visit to Kefalonia is, in particular, to “scan” the projects that are in progress and relate to the restoration of the damages from the catastrophic earthquake of 2014 and “Ianos”, to deal with the deficiencies recorded regarding the operation of the Argostoli hospital, in the reconstruction of the Argostoli-Poros road as well as in the launching of the construction of the archaeological museum.
During his visit, he will be informed about the progress of the projects and the launch of immediate solutions both from the members of the cabinet who will accompany him (among whom will be the Deputy Minister of Health Ms. Mina Gaga, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Giorgos Karagiannis but and the local “blue” member of parliament Panagis Kappatos) but also from the representatives of the self-government and various bodies.
Government officials stress that the tour to Kefalonia is part of the planning of the initiatives with the slogan “next to the citizen” and the planning of the Maximos Palace for the promotion without delay of important projects for each region of the country. In any case, the prime minister’s visit to a single-seat district, which New Democracy won in 2019 by a large margin from SYRIZA, also has a political dimension.
