Four & Five star hotel developments at an increasing rate in Kefalonia

Although it has not been targeted by major hotel brands , Kefalonia is a tourist destination that is constantly developing.

With two ports connecting mainland Greece and neighboring Italy during the summer, as well as a regional airport that attracts summer and charter flights, the largest Ionian island is a destination with plenty of potential for growth. .

It is characteristic that in 2022, through the airport managed by Fraport, almost 820,000 passengers were handled, marking an increase of 5.5% compared to 2019.

Last year, TAIPED held a competition for the utilization of Argostoli Marina. Six investment schemes expressed interest in leasing the marina, which has a capacity of 174 berths, for at least 35 years. In the next period, the second phase of the tender (phase of binding offers) is expected.

At the same time, the island has recently attracted the interest of hotel investments. A new 5-star hotel is to be built in the Akrotiri Manoli area, in Paliki, Lixouri Municipality, an investment that was recently included in the development law. Specifically, according to the published data of the Ministry of Development and Investments, the investment plan of the company Ethos Gallery IKE foresees the establishment of a five-star luxury hotel, with a capacity of 71 rooms and 166 beds, a total eligible cost of 8.7 million euros and a total supported cost as well 8.7 million euros. It will receive aid in the form of a grant of 2,742,250.00 euros.

The next opening in Kefalonia will be “Eliamos”, a five-star hotel consisting of 12 impressive villas overlooking the Ionian Sea and the vast olive grove of the complex. Combining the privacy of a spacious villa and the services of a 5-star hotel, Eliamos, on the south side of the island, in Spartia, has invested in creating a boutique accommodation, which will “embody” the connection with nature and its energy. The complex is set to open on May 1st and is reportedly being managed by Modus & Amplio.

Indicative of the interest shown by the island is the move by Aria Hotels to include in their portfolio the Petani Bay Hotel – Adults Only, a high standard Boutique Hotel in Kefalonia. With a panoramic view, on one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece in the bay of Petana, at the top of an impressive gorge, with an unobstructed view of the sunset and the Ionian Sea, the hotel provides its guests with privacy and unique service, through a wide range of services of high standards, such as the use of a private speedboat to explore secluded beaches of particular natural beauty, the provision of wellness services, as well as the organization of tasting, horse riding, sightseeing, cycling and fishing experiences.
