A study of 1.6 million euros for the demarcation, arrangement of the hydrographic network and the flood protection of Pylaros Kefalonia was approved today

A study of 1.6 million euros for the demarcation, arrangement of the hydrographic network and the flood protection of Pylaros Kefalonia was approved today by the General Secretariat of Public Revenue and NSRF after direct intervention of the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Mr. Giannis P.

The financing of this study will be carried out in the context of the maturation of studies for projects that will be financed by the NSRF 2021-2027, at the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, with a total budget of 13,378,625 euros.

As it is known, Mr. Plakiotakis during the last week, accompanied by the General Secretary of Ports Mr. Evangelos Kyriazopoulos and the General Secretary of Aegean and Island Policy Mrs. Christiana Kalogirou, had visited the affected areas of Kefalonia by “Ian”.

During his meetings with local stakeholders he was informed about the request of the Regional Unit of Kefalonia for the financing of a study of demarcation and settlement of critical branches of the hydrographic network of the hydrological basin of Pylaros Municipality of Sami Kefallinia as it is the one that presents the most flood problems .

Upon his return to Athens, he immediately informed the Secretary General of Public Investments and NSRF, Mr. D. Skalkos, who hastened to satisfy the relevant request of the Regional Unit of Kefalonia, approving the relevant study.

Referring to this issue, Mr. Plakiotakis, after expressing his satisfaction for the immediate mobilization of the state mechanism to meet this urgent need of Kefalonia, underlined the following:

During my visit to the areas of Kefalonia that had been affected by “Ianos”, I realized the magnitude of the problem and addressing the representatives of the local communities I pointed out that the government will move immediately so that similar phenomena do not happen again.

The first step was taken just a few days later. We approved the relevant study of flood protection projects requested by the Regional Unit of Kefalonia. It is now up to us to complete this study to see what our next steps should be.

In any case, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis proves once again that it is not present in words, but in deeds from one end of the country to the other. We listened to the people of Kefalonia. We saw the problem. And we gave a solution “.
