In the context of the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (GAPP) and the Hellenic Authority for Geological and Mining Research (EAGME) and following requests from the Municipality of Thebes, PA . Kefalonia and the Region of Central Macedonia, the General Secretary of Civil Protection, Nick Chardalias asked with urgency letter to the Greek Authority for Geological and Mining Research (EAGME) performing Technical recognition of the Immediate Intervention Group of EAGME :
- for the settlement of Ambelochori , Thebes Municipality, with the aim of examining landslides and their impacts, as well as assessing the risk for the affected structures (rural road network and associated projects).
- for the settlement of Nifi , Municipality of Argostoli, with the aim of examining the phenomenon of soil flow ( torrential flooding ) and its impacts, as well as the assessment of the risk for the affected structures (road network and associated projects)
- in the area of the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos , PC. Polydendros, Municipality of Veria, for the purpose of examining the phenomenon of rockfall and its impacts, as well as the assessment of the risk for the affected constructions (road network, housing and condo projects)
It is noted that, according to the Memorandum of Understanding, the Municipality of Thebes, PE Kefalonia and the Region of Central Macedonia may receive within 24 to 36 hours a recommendation from EAGME on the hazard and safety of the affected structures in the area, accompanied by a proposal for measures aimed at immediate impact reduction.
