Deputy Minister of Transport: Snow chains will be mandatory from October in all cars

Mandatory vehicles with chains are expected to be vehicles from October to April.

In particular, the Deputy Minister in charge of Transport, Michalis Papadopoulos, announced to SKAI 100.3 the signing of a ministerial decision stating that from October to April, all drivers should have chains, snow blankets or snow tires on their vehicle.

He also announced that the installation of anti-skid chains will become a mandatory course for prospective drivers and will even be examined by sampling.

The Undersecretary estimated that the decision will take effect from next October, as it takes some time until it is made public.

At the same time, he announced that by the end of May the new Road Traffic Code will be published , which will be put to consultation. He estimated that by the end of the summer it will be operational and noted that it will approach reality without discounts on safety.

As he said, the speed limits in the cities will be reduced and will be increased in some parts of the highways.

    Seems extreme, this is Greece not Norway.

    Can the deputy minister of transport let me know where we send the bill for snow chains and new winter tyres. Perhaps direct to him as he seems to have lots of cash unlike the rest of the country.
