Authorities are concerned about images of people outside supermarkets, markets, the Varvakeio market and churches on Good Friday, as curfews to curb the spread of corona in Easter seem to be being tested.
Maybe the controls by EL.AS. on the national road networks, but also on the streets of the cities to be intensified and the police to control more and more drivers and passengers of cars for possible unnecessary movements, however the congestion problem was identified elsewhere. From the moment the Varvakeios market opened, the crowds in the neighborhoods, as well as the supermarkets, crowds of people were there for the shopping at the Easter table.
However, even more worrying was the phenomenon of citizens queuing outside churches to worship the Epitaph.
People outside churches in Athens and Thessaloniki
Just yesterday, Holy Thursday, it became known that the churches will remain closed to the faithful until April 28 as part of the measures for the coronation. However, some priests and believers remain unrepentant and do not follow the example of the majority of citizens. The examples from Thessaloniki and Athens are indicative.
In Thessaloniki, according to seleo.gr, worshipers were found outside the Holy Temple of Agia Marina, Agia Varvara and Agios Fanourios in the area of Toumpa, in the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Chalastra, in the Holy Temple of the Holy Trinity and in the Holy Temple of St. Panteleimon.
Endless queues outside supermarkets
From 13:00 when the supermarkets opened , citizens queued outside the shops to shop for the Easter table. As the coronation protection measures are strictly enforced inside the shops, the inseparable is observed on the sidewalk. It is indicative that in some cases the queues exceed even 70 meters. However, it is worth noting that most people keep a safe distance.
Many at the popular markets
However, problems from large consumer concentrations were presented in popular markets. Many consumers rushed to shop, causing congestion and the need for police intervention to ensure safety measures were taken by the citizens.
