Extension for MOT and emissions test due to quarantine

The Ministry of Transport announces in a circular that it is allowed for the period from November 7 to November 30, 2020, only the technical control of trucks and buses with MAMFO)> 3.5 t in Public and Private KTEOs of the country, which have an approved – licensed heavy vehicle technical inspection line and under the condition of a maximum number of nine (9) people waiting and arriving by appointment (by telephone and electronic means) and displaying the relevant list to the control bodies.

For the other categories of vehicles, ie with MAMFO ≤ 3.5 t, the date of the periodic technical inspection for the first time of the vehicles registered in our country as new, is extended by forty five (45) calendar days, if it is within the time limit. period from Saturday 31-10-2020 to Monday 30-11-2020 (without taking into account the period of one additional week from the date of registration of the vehicle).

Similarly, the period of validity of the Technical Inspection Certificates (DTE) is extended by forty five (45) calendar days without serious or dangerous deficiencies, provided that their
expiration date is within the period from Saturday 31-10-2020 until Monday 30-11-2020.

It is clarified that the expiry date of the DTE means the date indicated on it in the Union code “8. VALID UNTIL “, ie the period of one additional week is not taken into account.

The validity period of the DTEs is extended by forty five (45) calendar days with serious deficiencies, provided that the indicated expiration date is within the time period from Saturday 7-11-2020 to Monday 30-11-2020.

The validity period of the Exhaust Control Cards (KEK) is extended by forty five (45) calendar days, provided that the date of the next audit for the issuance of the KEK is within the time period from Saturday 31-10-2020 to Monday 30-11 -2020.

Vehicles are required to arrive at the KTEO for inspection no later than the end of the above specified deadlines (ie until the end of the forty-five calendar days of extension), without adding an extra week.

It is also reminded that in case of public holidays, including local holidays, or Saturday, the deadline for timely inspection is postponed to the next working day.

Where provided by the applicable provisions for the periodic technical inspection of modified vehicles that use LPG or CNG for their movement, the submission to KTEO, Responsible Declaration of LPG system technician for the proper operation of the LPG or natural gas system, which expired in time from Saturday 31-10-2020 until Monday 30-11-2020, its validity is extended by forty five (45) calendar days.

Where the provisions in force apply to the special technical inspection for the installation or uninstallation of an LPG or CNG system, from Saturday 7-11-2020 until Monday 30-11-2020, its validity is extended by forty five (45) calendar days.

Vehicles for which it appears that, during the period from Saturday 7-11-2020 until Monday 30-11-2020 when there was the obligation to submit for technical inspection, there are reasons of force majeure, they are inspected on time (without the payment of additional special overdue fee) until 30-12-2020.

It is allowed to register used passenger vehicles with previous registration in EU Member States, by presenting a Technical Inspection Certificate (valid at least until the date of declaration of arrival of the vehicle) of the country of origin, without presenting a Technical Inspection Certificate by public or private KTEO within the Greek territory, either after the recognition process or after the Periodic Technical Inspection, where provided.
