Extraordinary meeting at the Maximos Palace with the participation of Tsiodra – Information on over 5,000 cases today

A new extraordinary meeting is currently taking place at the Maximos Palace with the participation of Professor Sotiris Tsiodras in order to deal with the rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases .

The Minister of State Akis Skertsos, the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris and the Deputy Minister of Health Mina Gaga also participate in the meeting, who also participated in the morning teleconference with the governors and KEDE.

There is intense concern in the government and the health authorities, as, according to information today there will be a new record of cases as they are expected to exceed 5,000 .

It is noted that on Saturday there was a record number of cases with 4,696 new cases, 404 intubated and 38 deaths.

What was decided in the morning meeting
Already, in the morning video conference at the Maximos Palace, it was decided to increase the checks and identity for the vaccination certificates, while the corresponding sanctions for the violators will be activated.

During the meeting, further incentives were considered for the inclusion of doctors in hospitals in the region, given the increased needs caused by the pandemic.

The possibility of redeployment of medical staff serving in Health Centers and vaccination centers was also discussed, in order to ensure the best possible utilization of them to meet all the needs of the population.

Vaccination information campaigns
The importance of the involvement of the Local Government in the effort to convince the citizens who are hesitant to be vaccinated was highlighted, including the possibility of informing the citizens on a personal level and in an environment of trust, through personalized information campaigns.

Strict controls and fines
During the teleconference, the importance of the controls was emphasized, not only in terms of the entry of vaccinated citizens in clean places but also in order to confirm the identity.

In the coming weeks, the National Transparency Authority and the Greek Police, in cooperation with the Local Government, will intensify throughout the country the controls for the observance of the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, by imposing the foreseen sanctions on the violators.
