Fallen columns, cut wires and long power outages in Kefalonia

Glad to say at 13:00 this afternoon we got power back in Simotata, its been a long outage since last night but the winds around here  were immense and the guys from electric company have been working non stop since first light this morning, despite having to manage fallen trees such as this blocking the roads.

Problems in the island’s network

Fallen PPC columns (in many parts of Kefalonia) and cut wires (in the Simotata area) created problems that resulted in almost twelve hours of power failure in areas and villages in southern Kefalonia. Electricity rehabilitation took place a little while ago, while Erissos is currently out of power.

PPC technicians, under difficult weather conditions, tried to repair the grid throughout the night, and there are fears that if the wind does not break, other problems are created during the day.

However, the website has received many complaints from citizens who say that the telephone number to report damage or information from PPC is no longer connected with Argostoli but with the Athens headquarters, thus waiting a long time in waiting (with calls to billed depending on the phone provider) and sometimes not even connected!
