With the fire-fighting period in place, residents and professionals are reminded by the competent authorities of the obligation to clean the plots and uncovered areas they own in order to avoid fire hazards.
It is noted that the aforementioned action is mandatory, according to the provisions of art. 4/2012 Fire Brigade and Law 3852/2010 “the owners, landlords and landlords of the land and other uncovered spaces, located within cities, towns and settlements and within 100 meters of their boundaries, are obliged to clear them from the dry grass and their removal, the removal of any other abandoned flammable or explosive materials or objects within them to prevent the risk of a fire or rapid spread and the taking of any other measure aiming at avoiding the causes and reducing the risk of fire. In the event of non-compliance by the persons liable, the administrative and penal sanctions of article 94, paragraph 1, case 26, paragraph b ‘of Law 3852/2010 “Kallikratis” and the offenders should be punished according to the provisions of Article 433 of the Penal Code.
At the same time, the omission of the obligation to clean up plots also entails the charging of their cleaning costs.
