The sudden death of a soldier, only 24 years old, from Patras, who served in the Presidential Guard since last October, is being investigated by the Army General Staff.

Soldier Spyros Thomas felt unwell yesterday evening while in his quarters, he was transferred to the 401 military hospital where his death was recorded.

At noon on the same day, on Thursday, 13: 00-14: 00, he had served the Unknown Soldier, as he did the same evening, 19: 00-20: 00.

From 20:00 when he finished his service until 22:00, the unlucky young man was in his ward and resting.

At around 3:15 pm, he advised him to come out for the evening invitation scheduled for 22:30, and unfortunately he collapsed at that time.

The announcement of the General Staff:

From the Army General Staff it is announced that, Soldier (OZ) Σ.Θ. of the Presidential Guard, found in his Unit in the evening of February 21, 2019, felt sick and was immediately transferred to the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens (GSEA), where his death was recorded.

The exact causes of the incident are investigated appropriately.
