Greece will be open to everyone from 1 July – Greek prime ministers message from Santorini (video in English)

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave a press conference from Santorini for the opening of Greek tourism .

Accepting the world public, through tonight’s interview with foreign press correspondents, the Prime Minister aspires to open the door wide to the Greek summer for visitors from abroad and inside.

Mr. Mitsotakis stressed in the press conference that Greece is preparing for a peculiar summer that is not like others we have experienced, as the pandemic “forced us to change our way of life, the way we work, how we greet each other, even how we ultimately try to preserve our reputation as an emblematic holiday destination. ” Now we are moving to a new regularity, of course this will not last forever because the Greek summer is not only the impressive sunset, it is an opinion as our campaign states, the prime minister continued.

“We are moving forward,” the prime minister said, adding: “Today my message is simple: ‘Come to Greece.’ From Monday, the airports will be open to some travelers, while from July 1, they will be open to everyone. I am interested in Greece being a safe tourist destination for the summer. ”

Answering a journalist’s question, he noted that Greece wants to extend the tourist season. Asked what scares him the most, he said that we are doing the best we can, despite the fact that Greece has won the trust of the people about the way it handled the pandemic. At the same time, the Prime Minister urged the journalist to visit the hospital in Santorini and noted that in other smaller islands the hospitals are ready to deal with incidents.
