Greek coronavirus daily update – 17 new cases today and 108 deaths overall

Infectious disease specialist Sotiris Tsiodras announced 17 new cases of the corona SARS-CoV-2 in our country.

The total number of cases is 2,224, of which 56% are men.

Of these, 568 (25.5%) are considered travel-related from abroad and 927 (41.7%) are related to an already known case.

71 of our fellow citizens are being treated intubated. Their median age is 67 years. 14 (19.7%) are women and the rest are men. 83.1% have an underlying disease or are over 70 years of age. 35 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 3 more recorded deaths and 108 deaths in total in the country. 29 were women (26.5%) and the rest were men.

The median age of our deceased fellow citizens was 74 years and 89.8% had an underlying disease and / or age 70 and older.

It is recalled that in the coming days the measures will be much stricter in the context of the traffic ban for “Movement for assistance to people in need” (B4)

Undersecretary of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced that from 9 pm on Saturday until Easter Monday at midnight, the exceptional travel to provide assistance to people in need (code B4) will be checked “sweepingly, thoroughly and diligently” by control instruments throughout the country, in relation to the point of departure and destination and will only be possible with up to two people per vehicle.

The aim is to prevent unnecessary travel for those who plan to go to friends or relations homes and to have a crowd both on Holy Saturday night for the table with the meal, after the Resurrection, and for Easter Sunday for the spit roasting on the barbeque
