Greek Coronavirus daily update: 358 new cases today with 43! detected at borders

The announcement of EODY for the new cases of coronavirus
Today we announce 358 new cases of the new virus in the country, of which 56 are associated with known outbreaks and 43 were detected following checks at the country’s gateways. The total number of cases is 16,286 , of which 55.8% are men.

2,696 (16.6%) are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 6,808 (41.8%) are related to an already known case.

73 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their median age is 68 years. 20 (27.4%) are women and the rest are men. 89.0% of intubated patients have an underlying disease or are 70 years of age or older. 191 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

Finally, we have 5 more recorded deaths and 357 deaths in total in the country. 132 (37.0%) women and the rest men. The median age of our dying fellow citizens was 78 years and 96.9% had some underlying disease and / or age 70 years and over.

It is noted that a meeting was held on Wednesday morning at the Ministry of Health for the ICUs in Attica . At noon of the same day, Professor Anastasia Kotanidou announced on behalf of the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care the number of available ICU beds in Attica. According to her statement, 337 ICU beds are available in Attica in state and military hospitals. Of these, 107 have been allocated for the needs of patients with COVID-19, while in the coming days another 42 will be added to NSS hospitals. Today, 23/09/20, 30% of the ICU beds in Attica are free for disposal, and in particular 40% of the ICU-COVID beds are free.
