The free entry into the United Kingdom of those traveling from Greece when the Greek government allows the free entry of arrivals from the United Kingdom at some point, suggested the Minister of Tourism Haris Theocharis speaking to the BBC.
In an interview with the popular BBC podcast “The Coronavirus Newscast” on Monday night, Mr Theocharis said he was asked about the upcoming quarantine of international arrivals in the UK:
“This kind of aggression shown by this country (the United Kingdom) in making these decisions (to impose quarantine) is completely understandable. What I can say is that we think this is a time to start thinking about lifting these restrictions and trying to remove as many obstacles as possible.
And we urge other countries, including the United Kingdom, to welcome this as soon as possible. So if we don’t impose quarantine on people who come to Greece from the UK from day one onwards, we would welcome it if the United Kingdom did the same. ”
Mr Theocharis also said Greek authorities had “done everything possible” to protect citizens with timely action, but had also strengthened the national health system “which is now stronger than ever”. As he added, “we feel confident that we have the NSS in such a situation that any situation can face it.”
