EUR 140 million in research benefits
In the hydrocarbon research phase, the economic benefits of the first eight years are 140m euros, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Gerasimos Thomas told the committee. Then there are clauses, tax revenue for the state and 5% will go to the Regions.

The Deputy Minister recalled that the four hydrocarbon conventions have been passed by the Court of Auditors and considered it very important that there would be public scrutiny and supervision. “There is a technical advisory committee for each of these projects and this committee has the right to audit, audit, have the right to intervene whenever it deems useful. This constant surveillance and public scrutiny is, in my opinion, the most important element, “said Thomas.
