Dreadful shame for such a beautiful island and all the other islands that have been involved in this buyout. This is no benefit to the Greek people, the only ones who will profit from this are the new owners as they welcome additional flights and the massive payments from the airlines. The large tour operators will also benefit greatly putting increased pressure on the Greek hotel & apartment owners who receive a pittance for their services. This sale of the Greek airports should have gone through the monopolies & mergers commission – the big UK tour operators are no longer British owned with exceptionally close links with these new airport owners. No doubt when Brexit eventually happens we will be penalised as UK citizens, no ,longer members of the European “Union”! I don’t personally see much unity going on. As a regular visitor to the island since working there for two years in the late 80’s I no longer recognise the fabulous unspoilt island that attracted so many – a sad day for all 😭😭😭

I totally agree Alexandra. I love Kefalonia as much as the next person but progress is important for the continued success of this beautiful island. We have, on more than one occasion, had to orbit over the sea because of the lack of parking spaces on the apron. On another occasion I watched an aircraft break of it approach and go around because the pilots could not contact the tower for landing clearance. The upgrade of the airport will benefit many on Kefalonia. Its a shame that people like Mrs C Boxhall would to see it, and its residents, stuck in the dark ages so she can have her fantasy island.

How many times over the years have passengers complained and moaned about waiting around. I,my wife and friends have have been visiting this island for 30 years, In the old days you had to help yourself to collect your luggage,do we want this to happen again,No. The probability is it will bring more employment and a much better atmosphere,no crowding around waiting for food or drinks. Like most things we don!t like change, but it had to happen,Good Luck.
