Kefalonian Winter nights (video)

Many of you only see the Summer face of Kefalonia but as Winter draws in the islands weather changes often started with heavy storms and in recent years hurricanes (medicanes) as global warming impacts the Mediterranean, followed by lightning storms as the energy levels created by the Summer heat dissipate in violent storms.

This video is a montage of lightning shots take from the south coast of Kefalonia near Koroni and gives a glimpse of Winter weather

Last night we were treated to a light display of epic proportions, hardly a drop of rain and very little wind, the perfect conditions to shoot some lightening. This morning i thought i would collate my images from last night & some from other recent thunderstorms we have had and share them with you.

This weekend the storms continue and we are forecast wind speeds of over 70 MPH with over 100mm of rain and with successive barometric lows running into the middle of the following week.

Hi Jo, impressive video! I wonder what happens when the lightning hits the sea water. Electrocuted fish? Hopefully not!
