According to the forecast models of the National Observatory of Athens / Meteo.gr, as well as other available forecast models, the atmospheric disturbance in the Central Mediterranean region (see satellite image) mentioned in our previous announcement, is expected to move in the coming days. our country transporting liquid and unstable gas masses. As a result we should expect the first autumn change of weather from Thursday 17/09 with rain and local thunderstorms.
Satellite image of the European Meteorological Satellite “Meteosat-11” of the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) at 11:55. local time, edited by the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr. The tops of the clouds with temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius are in shades of red.
Please note that:
- Due to the uncertainty of the transitional seasons and due to the current location of the atmospheric disturbance (located above the sea), the trajectory that will follow is not yet clear, nor the dynamics that it will present.
- Some prognostic models show the formation of a strong barometric low with quite strong phenomena in our country and mainly in its southern parts.
- There is a possibility of the formation of a Mediterranean Cyclone (internationally known barometric lows as medicanes from the union of the words Mediterranean and hurricanes) with movement towards our country, but this is not yet the most likely scenario .
The forecast team of EAA / meteo.gr will carefully study the latest available forecast data and will inform you about the upcoming weather change in future announcements.
