Lidl Hellas’s vision for a dynamic Greece – With actions for the protection of the environment and the promotion of Greek culture

LIDL Hellas envisions the creation of a dynamic Greece and sets the conditions for achieving this goal through actions and collaborations.

At an event held at the National Observatory of Athens, in the presence of representatives of institutions, Lidl Hellas presented the strategic plan for the development and sustainability of the economy, society and the environment, and presented data from the study of the socio-economic impact of Lidl in Greece in the period March 2019- February 2020.

As Iakovos Andreanidis , Chairman of the Board of Lidl Hellas, emphasized : “ We are social companions, much more in times of crisis. Because in difficult times the responsibility falls heavier on our shoulders. The bigger the company, the greater its responsibility to support, to unite the social fabric “.

Regarding the company’s financial data, it seems that the consumer public trusted Lidl Hellas, as there is a significant increase in turnover (closed positively at 8.8%), with an increase in store attendance and a “larger” shopping cart. As for the development plan of the company for the next three years, investments of 350 million euros are included, with an amount related to the expansion of the branch network, with 11 new points until 2022.

Lidl Hellas supports culture and environmental protection
Always guided by people, sustainability and environmental protection, Lidl Hellas also announced two crucial collaborations that will leave their mark on Greek society.

More specifically, Lidl Hellas, faithful to the corporate responsibility program and with a high sense of environmental awareness, begins cooperation with the Public Benefit Foundation AK. Laskaridis under the umbrella of the program “Greece without Disposable Plastics”, the joint initiative of the Ministry of Environment & Energy and the AK Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation.

This is the first open innovation action aimed at activating society and business to create innovative applications that contribute, through technology and digitization, to the goals of the campaign, paving the way for other initiatives with a positive environmental impact, but and market competitiveness.

Collaboration with Stavros Xarchakos and Lambros Liavas
Apart from the social character and sustainable development, Lidl Hellas also supports culture. On the occasion of the celebration of the 200 years since the revolution of 1821, it proceeds to the implementation of a project of great cultural, historical and emotional value. Wanting to offer the Greeks an important national cultural heritage.

Collaboration with the composer Stavros Xarchakos
More specifically, it is a series of cultural activities aimed at reflecting on the timeless role and importance of song in shaping historical memory, collective identity and national self-knowledge. Through 63 songs, the History of the place from 1821 until today will be given. The general coordination and artistic supervision will be done by Stavros Xarchakos, in collaboration with Lambros Liavas, professor of ethnomusicology at the University of Athens.

As the composer Stavros Xarchakos stated: “The dynamics and timelessness of the Greek music tradition is highlighted by the proposal-action that we plan in the context of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Ethnergersia, with the initiative and kind support of Lidl Hellas”.

“On the road to a better tomorrow”, therefore, contributes Lidl Hellas that for 21 years has won the hearts of Greeks, thanks to the responsibility, reliability and sense of social responsibility that governs it.
