Meeting this morning (Saturday) at Maximos Mansion to finalise the process & timing for The gradual lifting of the measures

Everything is judged today, Saturday, for the course that the country will follow in the field of the gradual lifting of the measures and the “restart” of the society and the economy. With the Prime Minister in mind, the big drop in the number of cases and their appearance in hospitality and hospitality structures, is the one that will accept all the suggestions and will make the final decisions. The crucial meetings start on Saturday morning, at ten in the morning, when the Prime Minister will have a meeting with the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias . Mr. Kikilias will deliver the suggestion of the infectious disease specialists.

It is noted that the government staff has been put on alert after what has been happening for the last 24 hours at the “Taxiarchai” clinic in Peristeri. In fact, there are many telephone conversations between the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, as well as with the professor of infectious diseases, Sotiris Tsiodras.

However, the government’s plan has not been overturned by the data so far, as everything that happened in Peristeri coincides with the date of exit from the measures. At the same time, the critical meeting of infectious disease specialists has been underway for some time now, as they discuss when and how the schools will open. Maximos’ main goal is to open all levels of education from May 11 to June. However, it is considered a given that in the field of education but also in the rest that will be opened if necessary, they will be interrupted again, if the colonist presents an epidemiological outbreak.

The provisional restart schedule

According to government plans , they are set to open  on May 4

  • Small shops
  • Hairdressers
  • Beauty salons

In mid-May

  • The students of the 3rd Lyceum and the tuition centers will return to the desks
  • There will be a restoration of the full operation of the means of transport

Meanwhile, the main direction of the government is to open all levels of education by the end of May, except for universities.

At the same time, the plans include:

  • Opening cafes, bars, restaurants outdoors
  • Restoration of domestic flights

For June is expected

  • Carrying out Panhellenic exams
  • Opening of department stores
  • Opening of cultural spaces, museums
  • Opening of sports facilities
  • Opening of tourist accommodation
  • Restart of the Super League

The question of tourism

What remains unclear is what will happen to tourism in the future. As much as the absence of foreign tourists “hurts” the country financially, the formula for “controlled risk” in this area has not been found. For this very reason, Kyriakos Mitsotakis asked the European partners to design a coherent framework for the normalization of transport and tourism. If there is, then it will be the basis for the reopening of imported tourism, at least at European level.
