In an emblematic action, Coca-Cola and the Ecological Recycling Company went on Sunday, June 9, under the Zero Waste Future program, organizing cleaning at the famous beach of Myrto, Cephalonia.

Local authorities, professional divers and more than 120 volunteers from Athens and Kefallonia participated in the cleaning action, thus bringing a loud message about the prevention and management of waste on the beaches while over 300 kilos of materials and objects were collected from the bottom and the beach.

The action that took place in cooperation with the Municipality of Kefallonia on the occasion of World Environment Day and World Oceans Day aimed at the exposure of the citizens and visitors of the island to the principles of recycling and their awareness of the issue of waste on the beaches it is burdening both the pollution of the seas and the tourism that is the heavy industry in our country. And that was just the beginning!

True to the global vision of a world without waste, the Coca-Cola in Greece aims to invite people to be part of the cleaning actions, information and awareness to be held this summer at selected beaches in Greece, under the Zero program Waste Future, implemented by the company itself and the Ecological Recycling Company, at a pan-European level for the first time in our country. With actions based on the pillars of intervention, education and behavior change, Zero Waste Future initiative aims to inform and educate citizens to adopt the principles of circular economy and recycling in their everyday lives, that refuse to acquire a second or third life.
