Nearly 93,000 tests at airports from 1 to 14 July – Checks increased 15-16 July

The coronavirus molecular tests carried out at the country’s gateways are increasing , in an effort to control imported cases.

According to the main news bulletin of SKAI, from 1 to 14 July, 92,876 tests were performed at the airports, 21,406 at Promachonas and 8,484 tests at the port of Patras-Igoumenitsa. In total, 122,766 tests have been performed. The daily average of the tests taken from 1 to 14 July is 8,769.

From 15 to 16 July there was an increase of controls by 30% -40%. Specifically, 13,491 tests have been done at the airports, 2,054 tests at Promachonas and 1,216 tests at the port of Patras-Igoumenitsa. From the beginning of July until the 14th, an average of 6,000 inspections per day were carried out at Greek airports. Since July 15, this number has increased by about 30% and checks range from 9,000-10,000 per day.

The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during yesterday’s meeting at the Maximos Palace called for “tightening of controls, without discounts”. He even pointed out two areas that need to be emphasized and concern the protection of workers’ health, especially in tourist areas and the avoidance of scheduling and gatherings, especially indoors.
