New air directions of Greece until September 15 – Which countries it concerns

The suspension of flights between Greece and Turkey is extended until midnight on September 15, with a new air directive of the Civil Aviation Authority.

In addition, with a new air directive, all passenger flights from Greece and the region of Catalonia to Spain are temporarily suspended until September 15, 2020.

More specifically, in addition to the above two directives, the Civil Aviation Authority issued air directives that will be valid until Tuesday 15 September 2020 and aim to protect passengers and citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic. The instructions include the following:

  • The air directive is extended until 15/9/2020 at 23:59, which stipulates that all flights to and from Greece from Albania and Northern Macedonia will be operated only at the airport “Eleftherios Venizelos
  • Excluding itineraries at other airports.
  • The notam is extended until September 15, which stipulates that those traveling to Greece by air from Bulgaria, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Albania and Northern Macedonia, will enter our country only with a negative C test. 19 which will have been carried out up to 72 hours before their arrival.
    The aviation directive is extended until 15/9/2020, which provides for a ban on entry into the country of non-European citizens (Non EU Citizens). The following 11 countries are excluded from this note: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates.
  • The air directive (notam) concerning travelers from Israel is extended until September 15 and stipulates that those traveling to Greece by air connection from Israel will enter our country only with a negative Covid-19 test, which will have been performed by the method PCR, (taking an oral or nasopharyngeal smear), up to 72 hours before their arrival. Also, the permanent residents of Israel who come to Greece, will be re-submitted to a test for covid-19, while a maximum entry limit of 1,200 travelers per week is set from Israel and only at the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Corfu and Kos.

As mentioned in the ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ, the Civil Aviation Service also informs about the extension until September 15 of the mandatory completion of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at the e-mail address (https://travel.gov.gr ) by all passengers of international flights to Greece. The replenishment can be done the day before arrival.

Please note that before accepting passengers for boarding, airlines must check: a) the PLF confirmation at least the day before the flight, which is a mandatory travel document. b) the correspondence with the QR code and the PLF. Airlines that do not comply with this control obligation will be responsible for the repatriation of passengers at the expense of the company.

Fine of 5,000 euros for violators of the instructions
For notams (extensions, replacements, new ones), the exceptions to the pre-existing airline directives apply. In addition, the repatriation programs of Greeks are excluded from all notams, while it is reminded that the persons who violate the air instructions are imposed an administrative fine of five thousand (5,000) euros.
