The decision to suspend the issuance of new building permits around the Acropolis, the Ministry of Environment and Energy announced after the reaction to the wall that threatens to “wipe out” the Acropolis.

According to the ministry’s announcement, the issue of new building permits is suspended and the validity of the building permit issued on 5 Faliro Street has been requested.

In detail, the three moves decided by the ministry on the construction of buildings in the wider area surrounding the Acropolis so that their height does not prevent the view of the sacred rock:

The Minister, Giorgos Stathakis, intends to temporarily suspend the issue of new building permits in the preached archaeological site of the city of Athens, which is not included in the historical center of the city, south of the Acropolis.

He also asked the competent authorities to proceed immediately to the legality check of the building permit of the building that was built on 5 Faliro Street.

An inspection will then be carried out by the building inspectors to check the proper implementation of the building permit.
