We are revising last years “Kefalonia as an onion analogy” looking to peel some more layers off the island and find some hidden gems!
As the holiday season draws closer we see many messages each year asking;
- What must we see?
- Where must we visit?
- Where should we stay?
All perfectly reasonable questions but depending on previous experience of the island all have much different answers.
So lets start the journey at The Onion Skin First Visit (Level 5)
Hire car preferential but KTEL Kefalonia are really upping their game and provide a much greener option to visit most of these places albeit with a bit more difficult.
There is never any easy answer to specific daily itineraries as there are too many variables e.g. start location, time people like to stay somewhere, hours they want to drive, but based on a 5 day hire and fairly brief visits the following are suggested;
Myrtos (best seen from above!), Assos & Fiscardo.
Argostoli, ferry to Lixouri, Xi, Petani & back to Argostoli for exploring
Sami, Agia Efimia, Melisanni & Drograti caves
Katelios, Mounda Beach, Skala & Poros
Lourdas, Lassi, Agios Gerasimmos church (Omala) and St Georges Castle
The sequel Onion Layer 4 (2nd visit) to follow soon.
