Porto Heli: How the Boat Crash Killed Two People and left One Seriously Injured

Two men dead and one woman seriously injured are the tragic account of a fierce two-boat crash that took place Friday night near Porto Heli.

The causes of the accident remain unclear until now. The collision of the two vessels took place just 350 meters off the coast in the Thini Argolida sea area, between Spetses and Porto Heli. A high-speed inflatable boat aboard 10 French nationals – two men, three women and five children – collided with a wooden fishing boat aboard three Greeks, two men and one woman. “The speedboat went over the fishing boat,” said Spetson Mayor Panagiotis Lyrakis, speaking at the Open, describing the conditions of the deadly crash as the inflatable crashed on the wooden boat at the time the second man was fishing.

In addition, by order of the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Yiannis Plakiotakis, the First Deputy of the Port, Vice Admiral Theodoros Kliaris and the Regional Commander of the 5th Regional Port Administration, Deputy Spyridon Kontiris, arrived in the area.
