Precautionary checks to address ‘dangerous’ orthodoxy offenses in the Ionian Islands
During the period from 1 to 15 August a total of (1,440) audits were carried out and (526) related violations were confirmed.
Intensive police searches took place from 1 to 15 August to address “dangerous” traffic offenses in Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos.
The controls are aimed at preventing and limiting serious road accidents and upgrading the level of road safety.
In this context, (51) workshops were set up, (1,440) vehicles were inspected and a total of (526) ‘dangerous’ offenses were identified, of which:

(47) for driving under the influence of alcohol
-
(26) for red traffic violation
-
(138) for excessive speed
-
(8) for dangerous manoeuvres
-
(39) for non-use of seat belt
-
(240) for non-use helmet
-
(20) for mobile phone and
-
(8) for non-use of special means of restraint and protection during the carriage of children (child seat)
Checks will continue, with a view to the safe use of the road network, the observance of Road Traffic Rules and the avoidance of road accidents.
