Receipt of personal protective equipment for Intensive Care Units

A large amount of personal protective equipment, ordered by the Greek State, arrived today at noon at the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, on a specially chartered flight.

The health material received consists of 250,000 FPP2 protective masks , 125,000 Tyvec protective suits, 200,000 footwear, 30,000 glasses and 20,000 shields.

Present in receipt of the material was the Minister of Health Basil Kikilias , accompanied by the Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Extroversion Foreign Ministry Gregory Dimitriadis, and President of the National Health Authority Central Purchasing, Marios Themistokleous .

The Minister of Health made the following statement:

“In the midst of this global battle and shortage of materials, we have been able to secure another large load of personal protective equipment supplies , this time for Intensive Care Units, with money from the Greek State.

These are 250,000 special FPP2 masks, Tyvec uniforms that doctors and nurses in the ICU need, 200,000 footwear, glasses and shields.

We will continue to do everything possible to support the people who fight in our hospitals to keep us all healthy.

I would like to thank all Greek society, our fellow citizens, for the great effort they have also made, in keeping with the measures of the Government and which, it is clear to all of us, that they are measures for the common good.

I hope those few who do not comply will do so too. But the great truth is that the Greeks have contributed so far to this very good picture that we show.

April is a difficult month. We must be able to support the National Health System and protect everyone. I would like to ask that we remain consistent.

If we remain consistent, we have the right to be optimistic. “

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Economic Relations and Extraversion said:

“I would like to thank the Minister of Health, Mr Kikilia, for all this extraordinary effort that he and his team are making.

We, as a Foreign Ministry, are trying to help as best we can. We are working as an inter-ministerial team together with the Maximus Palace, so today we still have a load to come.

We are expecting more, there are more flights of material to come, so that we are sufficient and ready for what is needed.

We believe we will succeed, because the Prime Minister has taken the right steps and we have very capable medical and nursing staff, but Greek society is also showing cohesion.

Together, with these supplies, we will succeed. “
