Since 6am, the country’s ban on traffic due to coronavirus has been in place.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced in his address the new, stricter measures the government is trying to curb the spread of coronavirus after pictures of thousands of cars on tolls and citizens exiting urban centers to the islands and rest of the region, ignoring the guidelines for the good of public health.

Prohibition measures, which movements are allowed
Thus, from 6 am, the measures to prohibit traffic are in force. The measures will last until 6am on April 6, which now prohibits unnecessary movement of citizens into the territory. Citizens will only be able to apply by completing one of the two special forms posted on forma.gov.gr, as well as by displaying an ID or passport.

A total of seven cases will allow citizens to move in accordance with the new measures in the next two weeks . These cases are:

A. Transition to and from work for business hours.
B1. Go to a pharmacy or visit a doctor if this is advisable after contact.
B 2. Moving to the supply store of essentials (supermarket, mini market) where they cannot be shipped.
B3. Go to the bank, as long as the electronic transaction is not possible.
B4. Movement to help people in need.
B5. Transition to a ceremony (eg funeral, marriage, baptism) under the conditions provided by law or the transition of divorced parents or parents to the extent necessary to ensure the communication of parents and children, in accordance with the applicable provisions.
B.6 Exercise outdoors or moving with a pet, individually or per two persons, in the latter case respecting the necessary distance of 1.5 meters.
Who does not have a traffic ban?
The ban does not apply to those serving in the security forces and the armed forces, as well as medical and nursing staff and authorized personnel of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection to perform their duties.

Prohibition of Traffic: The two certificates of movement
As the Ministry of Civil Protection announced, in order to be able to move a citizen in the above cases, two special forms must be completed . The first relates to the fixed movement certificate (type a) relating to work. This will be completed in one of the following forms:

In order to be able to get to work, you will need to complete a movement certificate (type a) first. The attestation shall be provided under the personal responsibility of the signatory by the employer or his legal representative in the case of a legal person or, in the case of a freelance professional or self-employed person.

The second relates to the other six categories of movement. In all cases, other than work, the citizen should fill in the travel form (type b) separately, depending on the reason for his / her intention to move.

In the form that he fills out on his own responsibility and signs it, he gives his name, address, date of birth, time he will come out and check with one X one of the six boxes, stating the reasons for the request for movement. of. At the bottom it signs with the date the request is made.

Alternatives to Type B Movements
For individual Type B movements, however, the document is not the only way one can move.

There is also the option of SMS, as citizens will be able to send their request to 13033 before they can get out.

The SMS should be in the form:

The third alternative is the handwritten note on a white paper. This should have the following information:

The Greek police will be tasked with auditing the movement of citizens, while the Municipal Police, Port Authorities in their area of ​​responsibility and the National Transparency Authority are involved where necessary in the audit work. In fact, Athens and Thessaloniki will even be controlled by drones and helicopters . For those who violate the directives, a fine of 150 euros is foreseen.

In particular, the plan of the Ministry of Citizen Protection to check compliance with the measures includes:

Strict nationwide checks by increased police patrols, which, in addition to imposing a fine of 150 euros on offenders, will impose more severe criminal penalties provided for in other provisions and even lead to criminal offenses.
There will be air surveillance in Athens and Thessaloniki, police and drone helicopters, which will alert ground forces and intervene to establish infringements and impose sanctions.
