7 December – The Ramblers heading from Faraklata to Razata then a tour of the science park

Subject to weather conditions ( rain is forecast ) our next ramble will take place on Tuesday 7th December.
If fine we meet at the FARAKLATA CEMETERY, next to the main church at 10am.
FARAKLATA is NE of Argostoli. For those in the south of the Island, at the traffic lights on the far side of the Drapano Brdge head past the British Cemetery. At the end of the straight piece of road do not turn right towards Assos but continue straight ahead. You will see a boat yard on your right and at the next Y junction bear right and follow the road to the FARAKLATA Church and cemetery.
For those in the east of the Island get onto the main road from Sami to RAZATA. Turn right in Razata to Faraklata ( it is sign posted ) Drive through Faralata but at the traffic mirrors turn left down a steep hill and you will see the church.
The ramble will go through a forest above Razata. We will stop in a field where a local teacher, Dionysus, has created a small ‘Science Park’. Dionysus will give us a guided tour around the Park and explain why it was created. After the tour we will continue down the road to Razata and then go cross country back to Faraklata.
Total distance approximately 5km along tracks and road. For those that wish there is a shorter route which will be explained at the start point.
A LIGHT LUNCH ( Spanakopita/Spinach pie or Pastitsio/Pasta dish with salad) will be available in a very small taverna providing you book with me before 24th November. If you prefer please bring your own refreshments.
Our guides will be Kathleen Connolly and Robin Hanna.
Please remember to bring a face mask, identification and your Vaccination certificates.
Anyone wishing to join us is more than welcome, just turn up.
The ramble after this one will be on Tuesday 7th December.
Let us hope it will be fine on Saturday.
