Specific Action Plan for Tracking Police in urban and suburban areas
A special plan of activation of the police services is to be implemented in the near future to facilitate the daily life of the citizens in Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Lefkada.
This project, entitled ” Free Movement of Citizens in Cities” , compiled by the Ionian Islands Regional Police Directorate-General, in line with the general guidelines of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, aims at improving improving the quality of life in urban and suburban areas of the islands, ensuring the smooth and safe movement of citizens and in particular vulnerable social groups, and improving the level of road safety .
Key priorities for the project include the daily intensive policing of people with disabilities, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, the fight against illegal traffic and parking of vehicles on sidewalks, and generally facilitating the movement of citizens.
In addition, the project’s specific objectives include addressing offences that occur when driving vehicles that cause nuisance or pollution to residents and hazards to other road users.
The main pillars of the project implementation are:
the constant targeted information of citizens,
the cooperation with the first and second level representatives with whom they have in principle been contacted and their particulars have been taken into account when drawing up the plan,
systematic policing by traffic services.
It is noted that the planning will be carried out by the Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Lefkada Police Departments and its results will be evaluated and publicized on a regular basis.
