A total of 97 archaeological sites, monuments and museums in the country will remain open for the public to enjoy 
the brightest moon of the summer and 48 of them will be events, mainly music concerts

The events that will take place in the light of the August moon in the archaeological sites , monuments and museums of the country are announced by the Ministry of Culture and Sport. The celebration of the August 2019 full moon will culminate on Thursday, August 15 , the day of the full moon, with events starting from August 11 and ending on August 19.

According to the Ministry of the Environment , “a total of 97 archaeological sites, monuments and museums in the country will remain open for the public to enjoy the brightest moon of the summer, and in 48 of them there will be events, mainly music concerts. Events in the archaeological sites, monuments and museums of the country, which are expected to increase, are recorded in tables that will be updated to better inform the public and will be posted on the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs in Greek and English. In order to celebrate the full moon of August, which coincides for 2019 on the day of the 15th of August, the Monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi in Sifnos was chosen as the theme of the poster. Entrance to all areas is free to the public.

Since 2002, the Ministry of Culture and Sports has been organizing the August full-moon events, offering the public the opportunity to enjoy a summer night under the light of the August moon in the archaeological sites, monuments and museums of the country. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the 2018 events account for more than 100,000 visitors (compared to 74,970 visitors for 2017 and 63,795 for 2016) that flooded archaeological sites, monuments and museums throughout the country.
