The student and military parade for October 28 will not take place this year , due to the coronavirus, as announced by the government spokesman Stelios Petsas.
As Mr. Petsas explained with a decision of the Prime Minister, due to the pandemic, the students and the big military parade in Thessaloniki will not be held. The decision was expected as the pandemic is on the rise and social distancing measures could not be observed. It should be noted that on March 25 there were no parades because of the coronavirus.
Everything that Stelios Petsas said in informing government editors about the coronavirus
“It is now clear that a second wave of the pandemic has already occurred in our country and throughout Europe, which is reflected in the number of cases, intubations and, unfortunately, deaths.
A wave of even greater concern as we approach the period of closed spaces and seasonal viruses.
That is why the recent European Council has taken this issue seriously, even though it was not on its official agenda.
As far as our country is concerned, we are still doing much better than many other European countries.
However, vigilance is needed, not complacency, because the picture can easily change dramatically.
Cases in social care units, such as nursing homes, but also in workplaces, where transmission is taking place at a rapidly increasing rate, further highlight the importance of individual responsibility, adherence to protocols, the faithful implementation of the measures recommended by experts and established by the State.
It is, after all, the only way to avoid stricter restrictive measures, but also to avoid the worst.
To contain, but also to reduce the number of cases and intubations.
Let us all work together to save lives.
Concluding, Mr. Petsas stated that the parades for October 28 will not take place this year: “I inform you that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, by decision of the Prime Minister, student and military parades will not take place on October 28.”
