The Prefecture of Kefallinia is almost unharmed from Covid-19 this week as well

Our prefecture remained almost unaffected by Covid-19 disease last week, as the period from December 5 to 12 was announced as a new case, bringing the total number to 64. In fact, according to official data so far of the National Agency for Public Health, Cephalonia remains the second safest epidemiological region in the country.

In particular, the confirmed cases of coronavirus in Greece now amount to 123,842. Unfortunately, 3,540 of our fellow citizens have died, ie 2.9% of the sick, with the median age of our deceased fellow citizens at 79 years. However, 95.9% of them had an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Finally, 577 patients are intubated in the Intensive Care Units.

In Cephalonia, since the beginning of the pandemic, 64 cases have been officially confirmed, ranking it in absolute numbers in the penultimate position among the Prefectures of the country, just behind Lefkada which shows 46 cases, but with a much smaller population. Regarding the cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which as we have repeatedly pointed out, are the most indicative element for the calculation of the epidemiological burden of an area, in the last place remains the Prefecture of Lassithi with 127 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The Prefecture of Kefallinia is in the penultimate position with 164 cases per 100,000 inhabitants or one per 610.0, followed by Laconia which shows 179 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Lefkada with 194 and Zakynthos with 196. On the contrary, the most epidemiologically burdened areas of Greece are Pella with 2,900,

We remind you that on December 5, our Prefecture recorded 161 cases per 100,000 inhabitants or one per 619.6. This practically means that the viral load in Cephalonia was burdened by 1.9% in a period of one week, which is the lowest rate of development between the Prefectures of the country, together with Preveza and the Cyclades.

At the national level, the burden was 8.1% with 1,145 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 1,059 last week. Inductively, the incidence rate on our island is now 7 times lower than the national average, when a week ago it was 6.6 times lower and two weeks ago 6.2 times lower. Finally, at the level of the Ionian Islands Region since the beginning of the pandemic in March, 309 cases are identified per 100,000 inhabitants or one per 323.6 with a total of 643 patients of the disease, of which 453 or 70.5% in Corfu.

Tomorrow begins a special week with open hairdressers, bookstores, but also commercial stores with the first method of click away appearing in our country, namely: Receipt of the product by one person and only from specially designed exterior of stores, payment only electronically or by POS upon receipt, a minimum distance of two meters between customers, a maximum of nine people on hold and a stay of up to ten minutes at the point of receipt. Therefore, we all need the utmost care to keep our island healthy and safe, as we have done so far.
