With special security standards against counterfeiting and protection against rain, humidity, cold and heat will be the new 100 and 200 euro banknotes to be released on May 28th.
These are the notes presented by the ECB on 17 September last year, which complete the so-called “Europe” series. It is the series that was inaugurated in May 2013 when the new 5 euro was released.
The new 100-euro notes are predominantly green, while those of 200 euros are dominated by shades of yellow and brown. In all, however, there is a reference to Greek mythology, as when viewed in the light, the portrait of mythological Europe is written on both sides.
The lower left side shows the value of the bill changing from deep green to dark blue, depending on its slope. On the right hand side you can see a hologram with the portrait of Europe and the value of the paper currency, and when it moves, the euro symbol appears around its value.
When drafting banknotes, the ECB took into account the visually impaired.
Thus, the new banknote series has clearer color differences and more prominent their values. The digits are embossed and of different size so that they are easily recognizable by the blind. It should be noted that during the first half of last year, 301,000 fake banknotes were detected and withdrawn in many of the countries using the euro.
