Rhodes’s best ambassadors and advertisers are known for its dozens of friends and visitors who love the island, not only for its sun and sea, its history and culture, but also for its Rhodian tradition, way of life and above all the inhabitants of Rhodes. They believe and prove that Rhodes is their home, second home, as they are never tired of saying, visited for many years, several times a year, or live here for long periods, many of them in their own homes.
Their timeless love for Rhodes and their clear preference on the island of the Knights was reaffirmed once again in the recent award ceremony of repeat tourists established by the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Rhodes in recent years on August 14, 2019. ceremony hall, at City Hall.
The Deputy Mayor of Tourism, International Relations and Rhodes Ms Marisa Hadzilazarou once again honored Rhodos’ friends, this time from Denmark, Austria and Italy, for their many years of preference on the island as their vacation spot, citing others:
“Today we honor all of you as a small indication of the joy and satisfaction you give us in choosing Rhodes to spend your holidays uninterruptedly in recent years, which in many cases can take decades. Thank you for your presence here this year and we are sure to see you for many more years to come. ”

The couple John and Irene Jensen from Denmark have visited Rhodes more than 80 times since 1979, when they first came to the island. They love the island’s natural beauties, its history and culture, its local gastronomy while maintaining strong friendships with the Rhodians. They consider Rhodes their second home, staying at the Sylvia Hotel almost every year. The event was accompanied by their daughter Julie and her husband Soren, as well as their family friend Margaret who has been married Greek and has lived in Rhodes since 1986.
From Austria the next friend of Rhodes was honored by the deputy mayor. This is Mr Gerard Kozel who has been to Rhodes 70 times in the last 30 years, has been staying at the Alila Mitsis Hotel in Faliraki and was accompanied by the event’s general manager Mr Lefteris Tsoukalas.
The couple were then honored by the Danish couple, fire investigator Frank Holm Bjarnaa and journalist’s wife Mette Bjarnaa, who have visited Rhodes 37 times, stayed at the Eden Roc Hotel and were accompanied by their girlfriend Myrto Kyriou . Mr. Frank Holm Bjarnaa was also honored by the Governor of the Rhodes Fire Department, Ioannis Tsitsikas, for his generous donation to the Rhodes Fire Department, and plans to donate a large number of energy bunkers in the future.
At the same event, the Italian couple Mr. David Fallani and his wife Mrs. Elizabetta with their daughters Elena and Eliza were also awarded. The couple’s Italian friends have been to Rhodes 27 times so far, staying at Maria Studios and Apartments in Haraki and were accompanied by their girlfriend Androniki Manousaki.
From Italy and the couple Mrs Fulvio Gallo and Mrs Chantal Sciuto who has come to Rhodes 20 times and has stayed at the Apollo Blue Hotel, accompanied by Mrs Irene Volonaki.
All the guests thanked the deputy mayor for the excellent honor of being awarded the honors of the friends of Rhodes.
Visitors also talked with officials from the Tourism Department about the impressions and the best memories of their Rhodes vacation, while they were given bags of informational material and gifts, provided by Natura Rodos – Stavros George Callas OE, N. Tatakis Wine – Vangelis Tatakis and 9D Cinema History of Rhodes “Throne of Helios”.
