This year 25th of March celebrations due to a coronavirus

The anniversary of March 25th will be commemorated in a simple and yet different way this year because of the restrictive measures taken to protect public health from the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be in attendance on Wednesday, March 25, to commemorate the national anniversary at the simple wreath-laying ceremony to be held (instead of a military parade) at 11:00 am at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument.

Also, as announced by the Maximos Mansion on Wednesday morning, there will be a Prime Minister’s message for the national anniversary.

During the wreath laying ceremony in honor of the heroes of the Revolution of 1821, over 4,000 Mirage 2000 / -5 Air Force fighter jets and 6 Army and Navy helicopters will pass over Syntagma Square.

At 11:30, at Guardian Watchtower 1 in Kastanias, Evros, a guard will be honored by the Flag Guard, recoiling the National Anthem and crossing a PA F-16 fighter pair, which will then fly over from Alexandroupolis, Kavala, Lemnos, Lesvos and Chios.

Transfers of F-16 fighter pairs will occur at the same time over:

– Thessaloniki, Kastoria, Ioannina, Corfu, Preveza, Aktio, Mesolongi,

– Chania, Kos, Rhodes, Kastelorizo, Karpathos, Kasos, Agios Nikolaos, Heraklion, Rethymnon,

– Patras, Tripoli, Sparta, Kalamata, Gythio, Pyrgos, Araxos,

– Larissa, Volos, Skyros, Samos, Psara, Kalymnos and Patmos.

At the same time, the pilot of the F-16 “Zeus” Individual Aircraft Demonstration Team in PA will send a message to the public during the flight.
