Updated guide on steps to obtain biometric resident passes in Kefalonia

The biometric pass process has been running for nearly 4 weeks in Kefalonia and we have updated the guidance following personnel experience and other feedback.

  • Compared to other places in Greece we are very fortunate to have two excellent, polite and well clued up officers dealing with the process in Argostoli which appears to be going very efficiently.
  • The 80/20 health policies are accepted.
  • All areas of Kefalonia are being managed at Argostoli police station
  • Following initial document check it can take up to 5 days before the documents are ready for you to make an appointment for fingerprints.
  • The fingerprint officer prefers calls around 3PM as most of the day beforehand he is doing the fingerprint process with people in the office.
  • Detailed photograph checks do not happen until the 2nd appointment (fingerprints) at which stage any issues will result in you needing to get another picture from the shops. This is very strict at present regarding hair on forehead , around ears or reflected light showing. Also try not to touch the photographs too much, when he sticks them onto the declaration he uses a cloth to prevent marking image.
  • The fingerprint machine needs a good amount of pressure to work and only the index finger is scanned.
  • For those with children, under 13 will be signed by the parent but children between 13 & 17 will sign their own declaration.
  • They are aware children’s finger prints are difficult and he helps get the best scan possible.
  • After finger print appointment the cards should be sent back to Argostoli from Athens in under 3 weeks.

    Hi
For Blue over 5 years held to 10 year biometric documents you also need proof of health insurance (private or AMKA).
