Vaccine benefits: Government announcements

The framework of operation of entertainment services for vaccinated and non- vaccinated was presented at noon by the Minister of State George Gerapetritis and the Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis.

The meeting places for persons are divided into two categories and the new framework will be valid from July 15:

A. Pure spaces Meeting places
to be accessed by those who have acquired immunity, ie have been vaccinated with two doses of vaccine or with a single dose vaccine, and have mediated 14 days since their final vaccination, or have been shown to be ill in the last six (6) months.

B. Mixed areas Meeting places
accessible to those who have acquired immunity, ie have been vaccinated with two doses of vaccine or with a single-dose vaccine, and have mediated 14 days since their final vaccination, or have been shown to be ill in the last six (6) months or have undergone a COVID-19 disease detection test (PCR test or rapid test) with a negative result in the last 48 hours.

All meeting places that can accommodate a public are declared, as an option, as pure (from July 15 onwards) or as mixed, on a special platform, and have a special sign at their entrance.

Meeting rooms are divided into four categories:
A. Closed spaces other than entertainment centers (cinemas, theaters, restaurants, cafes).

B. Outdoor entertainment venues for non-pitched seating (live shows and auditions).

C. Outdoor and indoor entertainment centers (music centers, clubs).

D. Open and closed courts.

Spaces that have been declared as pure

The framework for the operation of recreational services for vaccinated and non-vaccinated people, which will reportedly apply from July 15, was announced by the government. In other words, what is described as the privileges of vaccinated people was announced .

The government plan for the distribution of places of entertainment, fun and so on was presented. in pure and mixed spaces.

The pure places will be accessible only to those who have been vaccinated or have been ill for the last 6 months, having the corresponding certificate respectively. The above will have access to the mixed areas as well as those who have not been vaccinated – the latter only after a rapid or molecular test.

The measure concerns either indoor spaces or open spaces of high congestion.

As the Minister of State, George Gerapetritis, pointed out, it is up to the entrepreneurs to choose whichever model they want, with the respective conditions. It is also self-evident that the certificates will be checked in the first case, the measures (distances) in the second.

It gives incentives for vaccination, since in empty spaces the occupancy increases and reaches 85% in restaurants, cinemas and theaters (in both using a mask), while at the same time the occupancy in mixed areas will be 50%. At 85% it will be the fullness for the pure outdoor seating areas, while the percentage is graduated and below 75% for the mixed ones. For clubs and outdoor and indoor entertainment the occupancy for the pure spaces is at 60%, while for the mixed it reaches 25%. Finally, only the vaccinated and the sick will have access to the stadiums (open and closed) at a rate of 85%, while the unvaccinated will not be allowed to enter.

In closing, the Minister of State assured that personal data and rights of citizens will be fully respected. The need to build immunity and regain our freedoms is insurmountable, he concluded.

All measures

Specifying the measures, the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis said that as soon as the electronic platform is ready, the closed spaces in entertainment centers, restaurants and cafes will be opened. 

The identification will be done either with the identity card or with the AMKA, as clarified by the Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis. 

More detail: 

  1. Closed spaces other than entertainment venues such as restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theaters open as follows: closed cinemas on July 1 and other closed spaces on 15/07.

In pure spaces where only vaccinated and sick people can enter, there will be 85% fullness with the use of the mask being mandatory in theaters and cinemas, while the minors will come with a self-test statement of the parents. 

In mixed areasNon-vaccinated but also tested can come to the . The fullness will be 50% with the use of the mask being mandatory in theaters and cinemas. A negative rapid test will be required for the unvaccinated and minors will come with a self-test statement from the parents.

2. With regard to outdoor recreation areas other than stadiums, the following shall apply:

In pure spaces where only vaccinated and sick people can enter, there will be 85% fullness and the mask will not be obligatory. 

In mixed spaces , 75% fullness for spaces under 1,000 seats, 70% fullness for spaces under 5,000 seats, 65% fullness for spaces under 15,000 seats. The use of a mask will be mandatory in all areas. 

3. Regarding the outdoor and indoor entertainment centers (music centers, clubs, etc.) (the open ones open on July 1st and the closed ones on 15/07) the following will apply: 

In pure spaces 60% fullness.

In mixed areas 25% fullness and a previous negative rapid test will be required which will be mandatory for non-vaccinated. 

4. Finally, the following will apply to the open and closed sports pitches:

In the pure spaces 85% fullness, obligatory use of a mask and the minors will come with a self test statement of the parents. 

Unvaccinated will NOT be allowed on the field.
